The lovely folk that work in early education are an amazing bunch. Not only are they the most patient people in the world, they have a lot of great activities on hand to keep little ones engaged and entertained. So we asked Julie the centre manager at Crossways Creche in Mt Victoria for some suggestions on fun things to try at home and suggested both a science and art activity that they do regularly at the creche:
Mix corn flour, warm water and a little food colouring – stir into a smooth runny paste. This activity makes a great messy art experience. You can use a piece of paper to print the patterns and designs children make in the paint with their fingers.
Crossways Community Creche in Mount Victoria is a very special place and space. The creche has strong parent involvement and the teachers and families work closely together to provide a fun and stimulating environment for children. It’s very clear that Julie and her team are passionate about the children, their families and their interests. The atmosphere is remarkably calm and great emphasis put on the natural environment. Each area is bright, clean and inviting for big kids and little kids alike – I didn’t want to leave and my toddler certainly didn’t! What a cool place for kids to learn and thrive!
