Eastbourne (summer only)
Located on the seafront in Eastbourne Village, this sunny 25m heated outdoor pool offers fun for the whole family. More information: Eastbourne.
Has a toddler area, river, wave maker, hydroslides and inflatables. Brilliant for older kids. It’s a little cooler than some of the other pools. Slides and waves don’t start until 11am. More info: H2O.
Huia Pool (Lower Hutt)
A smallish indoor pool. Has a toddler pool and outdoor area open during the summer. More information: Huia.
Johnsonville (Keith Spry)
Has a toddler pool and slide. Usually extra activities during the holidays. More information, visit Johnsonville Pool. Park in from of the pool or behind the Community Centre.
Has a learner’s pool with water features, toddler pool, nice hot spa and 30m hydroslide (not open all day, check the website for details). For more information, visit Karori Pool.
Khandallah (summer only)
This pool has a beautiful setting – it’s nestled in the bush at the bottom of Mt Kaukau. It’s only open during the summer (usually opening in November). It has a small toddler’s area with toys. It is not heated and can get a bit chilly. More information: Khandallah.
Kilbirne (Wellington Regional Aquatic Centre)
This is a fantastic pool for kids of all ages. There is a walled-in toddler pool with a number of play areas and a huge spray water-play area complete with bucket fountain and water cannons! There’s also a deeper play pool for kids. The deeper pool is usually taken up with kids’ swimming lessons during weekdays. There is usually a blow-up dragon or similar at the deep pool during the holidays. More info: Kilbirniepool. Free parking next to the pool (between the pool and the Recreation centre).
McKenzie Baths Petone (Summer only)
Near the Petone Recreation Grounds. Recently refurbished and now has a wonderful toddler spray area. Note only opens at 11am on weekdays (10am on weekends and public holidays). More information: McKenzie.
Two 25m indoor pools. Includes a 10m enclosed waterslide called the Zoomtube and the DropZone – a twin racer slide with a vertical drop of 5m. There’s also ‘Funzone’ the activity time which runs in the school holidays and weekends between 12 – 3.30pm and a pass gives access to pass gives access to the Zoomtube, ropes course, Drop Zone and diving board. Arena Aquatic Centre Porirua
Has a large leisure pool where the toddlers can play at the shallow end and older kids at the deeper end, an adults and children’s spa pool, a winding swimable “river”, a hydroslide (no extra charge) and spray features. Runs a “Wee Squirts” programme twice a week open to the public. Tues 10am – 11am and Fri 12 noon – 1pm. They also have a child safe play area for siblings on pool deck if needed. No need to book but restricted to the times shown. More information: TogZone.
