Indoor Playgrounds

ASB Sports Arena

During the week the kids can kick a ball around on one of the courts (for $1.60 and you can hire a ball for $2.50 or take your own) it also has a Wishbone cafe with a fenced of play area. Thursday and Sunday mornings, they also host their Active Play sessions from 9.30 – 11am with bouncy castle and fun toys and equipment. More on the arena and a map: ASB Arena.

Capital E

Moved from the old building at Civic Square, Capital E now have a smaller but still great space at Queens Wharf. Interactive toys, books, climbing frames and even a couple of wishbone bikes and free drawing and crafts. Capital E also offers loads of great classes and activities both in term time and the holidays and kids’ theatre at Hannah Playhouse. More information: Capital E.

Chipmunks

An indoor children’s adventure playground and cafe with bouncy castles and a variety of play equipment. With two locations: at the Tawa Dressmart Mall, Main Road, Tawa and at the Airport Shopping Centre in Lyall Bay Chipmunks

Gyms

There are now lots of casual gym sessions you can take the kids to where the gym sets out a range of equipment for the kids to try out and play on (often including a bouncy castle). Check them out on our gym classes page: gym classes.

Johnsonville Shopping Centre

Has a great play area surrounded by a picket fence, with turf and some lovely toys.  For more information, visit Johnsonville Shopping Centre.

Junglerama

An indoor playground with climbing , an inflatable slide, ride on toys and a ball tent. There is a separate play area for toddlers.

Two Wellington locations:
Newtown: 52 Hall Street, Newtown
Hutt Indoor Sports Centre, Hutt Park, 93 Hutt Park Road, Seaview. Both are open 9.30am – 5.30pm, 7 days a week (6.30pm on Fridays). Mondays are 2 for 1 (two children for the price of one).

Kiwi Bounce

Kiwi Bounce is an indoor trampoline park located in Ngauranga Gorge (23 Centennial Highway). They have bubby bounce sessions Wednesdays and a monthly Sunday bubby bounce session from 10.30am.  For more information, visit Kiwi Bounce.

Laughalots Playland

At the Station Village Complex in Alicetown, Lower Hutt (499 Hutt Road). More information; Laughalots.

Mission: Inflatable

Full of inflatable obstacle courses and bouncy-castle fun.  Great for over-5s (but under-5s can go too).
Two locations:
Wellington Indoor Sports centre (next to Westpac Stadium) and
Hutt Indoor Sports , 93 Hutt Park Road, Lower Hutt . Not open everyday, for hours and pricing visit Mission: Inflatable

Mitre 10

Mitre 10 Mega in Alicetown has a good large indoor playground and a cafe right alongside.

Tinytown

Part of the Kilbirnie Rec Centre is “Tinytown”, a preschool play space with heaps of ride-on toys and playhouses and a giant bouncy “castle” (currently a red bus). Great for cold or wet days when you would like some outside play inside! In the same building is a large concrete rink for scooting or riding. For opening hours and more information: Tinytown

Uptown Bounce

Located next to Bunnings Lyall Bay, this indoor trampoline park is a whole lot of yellow bouncing fun! They have toddler time from 9am – 12pm (term time, till 10 during the school holidays), and a cafe and birthday party room upstairs. For more information, visit Uptown Bounce.
