KIDS THEATRE AND PUPPET SHOWS AT THE SOUTHERN CROSS
KidzStuff, Playshop Theatre and the Southern Cross Bar are joining forces. With fortnightly theatre productions for the little ones in the guest room of the Southern Cross – alternating between interactive kids theatre productions, where the actors and kids recreate classic fairy tales, using dress ups, props and creative minds and puppet shows. The puppet shows will be followed by a puppet-making workshop – just bring a sock and you could be leaving with a new puppet friend! All shows are free and at 11am in the Guest Room. HILL STREET MARKETS
A Saturday morning market in the car park of Wellington Cathedral of St. Paul, cnr. Hill and Molesworth Streets, Thorndon. With a great selection of super fresh vegetables and fruit, much of it organic or spray free and other foods grown or made by local producers. GYM JAM AT NAIRNVILLE RECREATION CENTRE

OPEN DAY, ISLAND BAY MARINE EDUCATION CENTRE
The Marine Education Centre is now open every Sunday. The centre is open from 10am to 3pm and entry is $5 for adults and $2 per child. This is a fantastic place to visit with kids of all ages – it is packed with amazing sea creatures and there’s a huge “touch tank” where the kids can pick up starfish, crabs and more. BIG STEAM SUNDAY AT SILVERSTREAM RAILWAY
Silver Stream Railway is a working heritage railway. It is open to the public for rides most Sundays with a steam locomotive, plus diesel locomotive or railcar in service. Opening hours are 11am to 4pm. More information here: Silverstreamrail.

GOURMET FOOD TRUCK PICNIC SUNDAYS
The Gourmet FoodTruck Picnic is an outdoor family event, which offer an ideal opportunity to enjoy your Sunday evenings on a picnic rug, together with friends and families, in the beautiful Botanic Garden. With some of Wellingtons finest Food Trucks providing a tasty gourmet Sunday dinner, from 4pm. Come along and bring your best picnic rug. In cases of bad weather, they might cancel. WEEKDAY STORY TIME
See our Story-telling class page for all the weekday story-time classes available in Wellington. While Te Papa’s StoryPlace has a small fee, there are HEAPS of free story-time classes all over the capital.

MASSAGE MORNINGS AT THE SOUTHERN CROSS
Pop in on Tuesday or Thursday morning – the Southern Cross dedicates its Guest Room to parents and little ones. This is t a large enclosed area with comfy couches and carpet to crawl around on. We also have our wonderful Andrea on hand – she’ll help to keep your wee one happy while you kick back with a coffee and relax. On Tuesday and Thursday mornings between 10am-12pm we have a professional massage therapist, offering a FREE 10 minute back, neck and shoulder massage while the Cross’ lovely nanny takes your baby off your hands… heaven! Come along and join our Buggy Walking Group, every Monday morning. Meet at 9.25am for a 9.30am departure. Once your walk has finished, stay on at the Centre for a warm drink and a chat with other caregivers. We have a warm and comfortable room with heat pumps, couches for feeding, a small range of toys and changing facilties. STORYTIME AT ZEALANDIA FIRST TUESDAY OF THE MONTH
Join us at Rata Cafe ZEALANDIA on the first Tuesday of every month for a FREE nature themed story time and craft session for Pre-school children. Story time runs from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. and takes place on the balcony of Rata Cafe. Mums, you can relax with a coffee and cake and there are always small size treats for the children to enjoy! BUGGIES GO BUSH AT ZEALANDIA
Wednesdays at 10.30am. Our Wednesday morning walks for new parents are a great way to meet new friends while experiencing some of New Zealand’s rarest native wildlife. This must be the best buggy-friendly nature walk in New Zealand.Get a quick lowdown on what’s out and about from one of the Zealandia team, then pick up a map and head off at your own pace. Stay as little or long as you like to explore the sanctuary before returning to our visitor centre to check out our state of the art exhibition space. Finish with a coffee at Rata – our café with a view. Cost: $10 (admission to sanctuary and exhibition included) under-fives and members free. Buy two coffees at Rata Café and get a third free! GALLERY BABES AT CITY GALLERY
Pop the baby in the buggy and join City Gallery for a mid-morning tour of our current exhibitions. The monthly tours are pitched at parents and provide a baby-friendly environment for engaging with art. Gallery Babes is best suited to babies aged 0–12 months. Wellington Zoo host Wild Start on Fridays at 9.45am (Term 1 and Term 4), where little ones can learn about animals and animal care.
